دبلوم في الهندسة المدنية

The Diploma in Civil Engineering, offered at Dhofar University since 2010, is a practice-oriented program that provides students with a strong foundation in civil engineering knowledge, technical skills, and applied problem-solving. The program focuses on the planning, construction, operation, and maintenance of infrastructure and the built environment, with emphasis on structural systems, construction materials, surveying, transportation, and basic infrastructure engineering. Through a balanced combination of classroom learning, laboratory work, and technical applications, the program prepares students to support engineering and construction activities in both the public and private sectors. It also develops the analytical, communication, and workplace skills needed for professional practice. Graduates are prepared for entry-level roles in construction, site supervision, surveying, materials testing, technical support, and related infrastructure fields, while also having the opportunity to continue toward the Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. The program is committed to high-quality standards and a robust continuous improvement cycle to ensure academic excellence, industry relevance, and sustained program effectiveness.

Within a few years after graduation:

PEO1: Graduates will pursue successful careers in civil engineering by applying strong fundamental knowledge, appropriate mathematical and technical skills, and the ability to analyze, design, and implement civil engineering systems and infrastructure projects.

PEO2: Graduates will develop as well-rounded professionals through practical experience in laboratories, fieldwork, course projects, and internships, while demonstrating creativity, teamwork, leadership, communication skills, and a commitment to lifelong learning.

By the time of graduation, graduates of the Diploma in Civil Engineering program will be able to:

SO1: Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and technical principles to solve broadly defined technical problems.

SO2: Analyze technical problems, interpret data, and use appropriate methods and tools to support practical solutions.

SO3: Use appropriate techniques, skills, and modern tools necessary for technical practice in the field.

SO4: Assist in the design, operation, testing, maintenance, and improvement of systems, processes, or components relevant to the discipline.

SO5: Communicate effectively in written, oral, and graphical forms, and function effectively as an individual and as a member of a team.

SO6: Recognize professional, ethical, safety, and societal responsibilities, and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

For admission to the program, a student must have:

  1. A General Education Diploma (or its equivalent), including Pure Mathematics and at least two of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, or Biology, and
  2. Passed the Foundation Program (FP) at Dhofar University (DU) or any other Higher Education Institution (HEI) recognized by the Ministry of Education.

To graduate with a Diploma in Civil Engineering, students must complete the required credit hours for the program and achieve a minimum cumulative average of 65%.

In addition, students are required to complete a period of practical training through an internship. This requirement ensures that students gain relevant hands-on experience in industrial settings.
