بكالوريوس العلوم في هندسة العمارة

The Architectural Engineering (ARCH) Program, established in 2005, was developed to address the growing demand for qualified professionals in architectural engineering across industrial, governmental, and service sectors. It also aims to benefit the community by offering students from various cities and regions within Dhofar University access to high-quality engineering education.

The Architectural Engineering Program builds a solid foundation in designing, analyzing, and applying architectural systems. The curriculum includes key areas such as building structural systems, environmental control systems, construction materials, building services, and digital modeling, blending theoretical principles with practical skills through labs, projects, and industry-focused training.

The program prioritizes professional practice and real-world relevance. Students gain hands-on experience via internships in engineering consulting firms and construction organizations, including an eight-week field training that enhances their professional readiness and links academic learning with practical engineering.

Relevantly tailored to current industry and societal needs, the program supports sectors like sustainable construction, building information modeling (BIM), and green building technologies. It prepares graduates for roles in architectural design coordination, building systems integration, construction project management, and building performance analysis, as well as research and further education.

Dedicated to quality assurance and ongoing improvement, the program regularly reviews its curriculum, assessment methods, and stakeholder feedback to maintain alignment with professional standards and accreditation policies.

التفاصيل

To provide a comprehensive education that integrates engineering principles, construction technologies, and design competencies, preparing graduates for successful professional careers.

PEO1: To prepare graduates for successful careers in architectural engineering by acquiring the technical skills, design competencies, and knowledge necessary for professional practice.

PEO2: To provide graduates with an educational foundation that enhances creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, leadership, and communication skills, while preparing them for lifelong learning and professional development.

SO1: An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.

SO2:  An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.

SO3:  An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.

SO4: An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.

SO5: An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.

SO6:  An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.

SO7:  An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.

For admission to the program, a student must have:

  1. A General Education Diploma (or its equivalent), including Pure Mathematics and at least two of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, or Biology, and
  2. Passed the Foundation Program (FP) at Dhofar University (DU) or any other Higher Education Institution (HEI) recognized by the Ministry of Education.

To graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering students must complete the required credit hours for the program and achieve a minimum cumulative average of 65%.

In addition, students are required to complete a period of practical training through an eight-week internship. This requirement ensures that students gain relevant hands-on experience in industrial settings.

Students must also successfully complete a final-year project, which integrates the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the program and demonstrates their ability to solve engineering problems independently.
